Online Poker Tournaments
Online Poker tournaments are multi-table tournaments with more than 10 players participating. In freerolls, which are one kind of online poker tournaments there are no buy-in or entry fees if you want to participate. In Online Poker tournaments that are Freerolls, the played poker games are usually limited to Texas Holdem, Omaha, Seven Card Stud and Five Card Stud.
In Online Poker tournaments the participants are given the same number of tournament chips to play with. All players start play at the same time and the tournament level increases at regular intervals. Sometimes a fixed time is given for each level of the Online Poker Freerolls and sometimes the playing level is increased after 10 rounds. All participants play until they run out of chips and after that they retire. One of the participants in Online Poker Freeroll ends up with all the chips and is declared the winner of the online poker tournaments.
Sometimes Re-buys and Add-ons are offered to tournament players. Both allow participants the option of purchasing additional chips during the tournament. The re-buy option allows players to purchase more chips when they run out. They are limited to either the first few tournament levels or to a set time at the start of the tournament. The add-on option is offered only once at the end of the re-buy period. This option can be exercised no matter how many chips the participant has have. vBoth re-buy and add-ons increase the size of the prize.
